Positive Development: Linking Individuals, Communities and Social Policies
The first of the conference series on positive development was entitled „Positive Development: Linking Individuals, Communities and Social Policies“. Organized by the Center for Applied Developmental Science, the conference was held at the Hotel Dorotheenhof in Weimar, Germany (close to Leipzig) from October 9 (arrival) to October 12 (departure), 2004. On the occasion of the conference we also celebrated the official opening of the CADS-Center of excellence for research and prevention and intervention training. The event was supported by grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the University of Jena.
The conference format followed other successful models. It entailed a number of key presentations, each followed by two equally important discussant papers, and accompanied by plenty of opportunities for informal discussions.
Professor Klaus Dicke, rector of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, gave an inaugural adress and started with " ...morning has broken like the first morning; blackbird has spoken like the first bird ... more (PDF)"
